Points of View is a project that enables students to utilize digital storytelling to document situational reenactments of issues that have made a significant impact on their lives. The viewer will relive these moments through the eyes of the story tellers, children, who will use digital cameras to capture either still or moving images. These stories are an on-going effort to promote digital citizenship and social action for students living in an urban school district.
The Spoken Word - Reading Rock Stars
Reading Rock Stars is a group comprised of students who are reading above the 3rd grade level. In an effort to sustain their interest and challenge them to achieve the height of their potential, they meet before school hours and during lunch to work on projects that are of interest to them. Their inaugural project was decisive. They chose to use the text from "The Talent Show", by Susan Wojciechowski, to create a class play. While video conferencing with Ms. Stacey Cummings and her class in Pennsylvania, The Reading Rock Stars debut their creativity, via Skype! They are driven to develop the excellence that they all possess. This initiative will allow them a unique form of expression that is of value to them.

The Spoken Word - "Ask Me"
"Ask Me" is a segment that solicits candid answers to questions that are student and teacher generated. The range of questions varies based on students' knowledge about contemporary issues. During morning meetings, students are encouraged to become experts on any given topic. Their responses to questions are a mix of satire and sagely wisdom. It is never whimsical but is always poignant.
