Overview
Points of View is a project that enables students to utilize digital storytelling to document situational
reenactments of issues that have made a significant impact on their lives. The viewer will relive these moments
through the eyes of the story tellers, children, who will use digital cameras to capture either still or moving images.
These stories are an on-going effort to promote digital citizenship and social action for students living
in an urban school district.
Students have benefited immensely from this medium of expression.
They show evidence of a heightened sense of social consciousness. An empowered group of urban griots,
these young story tellers are remarkably articulate in providing visceral responses to the stark realities
with which they contend on a daily basis. Points of View will provide opportunities for educators and students
to glean from the insight gained along these journeys through childhood.
The overall objective of this initiative is to produce language and an art form that will be preserved for generations of learners into the millennia.
